You have been quoted for a website before and it went nowhere. A deposit changed hands, the work started, and you hoped the result matched the picture in your head. A free website mockup in South Africa flips that order. You see the homepage first, and you pay nothing until you like it.

What a mockup actually is

A mockup is your homepage, built for real, with your business name, your services and your area already in it. It is not a sketch on paper. It is not a template preview with "Your Company Here" still showing.

You open a link on your phone. You see what your customer would see: the number where it will sit, the services written the way people search, the map of your area, the colours, the photos. It is the first version of the site, not a drawing of one.

Why we build it before you pay

A website is a decision you make once and live with for years. Asking you to pay before you can see it is asking you to buy on faith.

Most people cannot picture a homepage from a description. They nod through the pitch, hand over a deposit, and find out two weeks later that it is not what they meant. The mockup removes that guess. You look, you react, you decide.

What it costs you

Nothing, and there is no deposit. No commitment, and no obligation to ever go ahead.

You sign nothing to see it. If the mockup is not right, you tell us, and we part ways. You have lost nothing but the few minutes it took to open the link. There is no invoice hiding behind the word free.

What you need to bring

Your business name, your services and the suburbs you cover. That is enough for the first version.

Photos help but they can come later. If you have a few finished-job photos on your phone, send them, because they make the mockup look like your business rather than a placeholder. Do not wait on the photos before asking for the mockup.

What happens after you see it

If you like what you see, the build carries on from the mockup, live in 7 business days for R1,499 once-off plus R800 a month for hosting, maintenance and support. Copy and photos are done for you.

If you want changes, we make them in the mockup before anything is locked in. That is the whole point of seeing it early. Changing a colour on a page that does not exist yet costs nothing, while changing it after launch is a job.

Mockup, then build: the difference

The mockup is your homepage and the services around it, enough to see the shape of the site and how it feels on a phone. The build is the full site: every page, the contact form wired to your phone, the Google Map, the SSL, the backups and the monitoring running behind it.

Think of the mockup as a slice of the real thing, seen before you commit to all of it.

Why this is worth the risk to us

We build the mockup because it is the fairest way to sell a website. If the work is good, you can see that for yourself instead of taking our word for it. If it is not, you should not be paying us.

That is a better filter for both of us than any sales call, and it is why the link is the pitch.

What not to worry about

You do not need a logo ready. You do not need the perfect wording. You do not need to know what a domain is. Bring the business name, the services and the areas, and the rest gets handled as we go, most of it by us.

The moment to worry is not now. The moment to decide is when the mockup is open on your phone.

What the mockup shows on a phone

Open it and the first thing you see is the number, sitting in the top bar where a thumb lands. Below it, a headline in plain language, a WhatsApp button, and a strip of your real job photos.

Scroll down and the services are laid out the way customers search for them. Further down, your suburbs and a map. The whole thing is built for a phone first, so it feels right in the hand, which is where almost every customer will see it.

A worked example

A plumber in Gqeberha has a slow month and asks for a mockup on a Tuesday. He sends his business name, six services and the suburbs he covers from his phone over lunch.

By Thursday there is a link. He opens it in his van between jobs, sees his own name at the top and his services written the way people actually type them. He sends one message: change the second photo and add a line about emergency call-outs.

That change costs nothing, because the page is still a mockup. That is the whole point of the free first look. The cheap time to change things is before the build, and the mockup is exactly that moment.

The question the mockup answers

The question a mockup answers is simple: does this look like my business, and would I call it? You cannot answer that from a description or a price. You answer it by looking, and looking costs you nothing.

Owners who have been burned by a previous build often ask what the catch is. The catch is that we do the first half hour of work before asking for anything, on the bet that the work speaks for itself. That is a bet we are happy to make.

Free does not mean unfinished

Free here refers to the price of the first look, not the quality of it. The mockup is built with the same frame and the same care as a live site, because it is meant to be approved and carried forward. It is a real page, on a real link, that you can open and judge.

If it looks right, it becomes the start of the build. If it does not, it was still a real piece of work, and you still owe nothing.

Two kinds of first look

There is the mockup, which you get for free, and there is the finished site, which comes after. The gap between them is the seven-day build. Almost everything you would want to change happens in the first look, while it is still cheap and easy.

Owners who see the homepage first tend to change more in the mockup and less after launch. That is exactly the order we want.
